Join Our Board of Trustees
Swindon Dance is seeking new board members to help guide our next chapter. This is a rewarding opportunity to support a nationally respected organisation that champions inclusion, creativity, and positive change through dance.
We welcome expressions of interest from people from all walks of life. You don’t need to have previous board experience just time, perspective, and a passion for what we do.
Why Join Us?
Swindon Dance is more than just a place where people come to move. We’re a cultural hub, a training ground, and a safe space for expression. We believe dance should be accessible to everyone, and our programmes reflect that, from elite training to inclusive classes for those with additional needs.
By joining our board, you’ll:
Help shape our strategy and ensure we deliver meaningful impact
Support our growth and sustainability
Advocate for the role of dance in education, wellbeing and community
Gain insight into charity governance and arts leadership
Join a supportive, collaborative and welcoming team

Who We’re Looking For
We’re keen to broaden the voices and skills around our board table. You don’t need to be in the arts or have previous board experience, we’re here to support new trustees.
We’re particularly interested in hearing from people with experience or knowledge in:
Fundraising or income generation
Youth, education, or community work
HR, legal or compliance
Equality, diversity and inclusion
Lived experience of barriers in accessing the arts
We especially encourage applications from those who are underrepresented in the charity and cultural sectors, including people of colour, disabled people, and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds.

What’s Involved?
The board meets around four times a year, either in person (Swindon) or online
Trustees are appointed for a three-year term, renewable once
This is a voluntary position, but reasonable travel expenses can be reimbursed
You’ll also be invited to attend performances, events, and community showcases throughout the year
Time commitment is flexible, and we understand that life is busy. We will support you to balance your trustee duties with other responsibilities
