Dance Development Pathway: Progression Opportunities for Young Dancers
At Swindon Dance, we’re proud to nurture the next generation of talent through our dedicated dance development programmes. Designed to support aspiring young dancers aged 9 to 19, our pathway provides high-quality training across multiple stages of development – from early steps to pre-professional preparation.

PRIMARY STEPS
Our Primary Steps programme is run in partnership with the Royal Ballet School, Dance Partnership and Access Programme and supported by the Department for Education.

STEPS2
STEPS2 is an exciting training programme for children aged 9–13 with a passion for dance. It offers a valuable stepping stone for developing technical skills, musicality, and creativity in a supportive, structured environment.

SWINDON YOUTH DANCE COMPANY (SYDCO)
Our flagship youth company SYDCO, offers young dancers the chance to explore choreography, technique, and performance at an advanced level. Dancers take part in regional events, festivals, and performance opportunities across the South West.

CENTRE FOR ADVANCED TRAINING (CAT)
CAT offers world-class training for talented young dancers aged 11–19 who are passionate about taking their dance to the next level. Based in Swindon and Exeter, the programme supports progression into further training and future careers in dance.
