A Step Back in Time: Remembering the Success of ‘Steppin’ Through Time’
The curtains have closed, the dance floor is empty, and ‘Steppin’ Through Time’ is now a cherished memory. We recently had the pleasure of revisiting the past through a memorable performance at St. Michael’s Church in Highworth. The event, a collaboration between Swindon Dance, The Mary Lou Revue, and the Forget Me Not Memory Café, took our audience on a journey through the decades.
Hosted by the warm-hearted Forget Me Not Memory Café, Highworth, the event was a testament to the power of community and the joy of shared experiences. With an incredible turnout of 70 enthusiastic attendees, the atmosphere was electric. The dedicated volunteers from the Forget Me Not Memory Café provided endless cups of tea and delicious homemade cake, ensuring that everyone felt right at home.
The afternoon’s highlight was the mesmerising performance by Mary Lou and Slim Ditty. Their renditions of classic songs from the 1920s to the 1970s transported the audience back in time, eliciting smiles, foot-tapping, and even some impromptu dance moves. The two-act performance reached its climax with a grand finale that saw the entire audience joining in, dancing to the tunes of ‘New York, New York’ and ‘Bring Me Sunshine.’ The stage and the aisles were transformed into a dance floor as the event concluded on a high note.
